Today I decided to put myself on the other side of the camera and start experimenting with UGC (User-Generated Content).

For my first project, I used something I already had around the house: old-school corded yard tools and newer battery-powered alternatives.

I'm 62 years old, and I've spent most of my life using tools that get the job done. But now I'm learning how to turn those everyday experiences into content that brands might actually want to use.

Here's what I'm experimenting with:

- Creating a relatable problem-and-solution video.

- Comparing products through actual hands-on use.

- Learning camera angles, lighting, and filming myself.

- Practicing voiceovers and editing in CapCut.

- Building a UGC portfolio that could eventually lead to paid brand opportunities.

And here's something I've already discovered: Filming yourself is a completely different experience from filming somebody else! 😂

That's part of why we're building the Las Vegas Creator Hub.

I want this to be a place where beginners and experienced creators can share their work, ask questions, learn new skills, and help one another improve.

So let's discuss:

Have you ever created a UGC video for a product or business? What was your biggest challenge when getting started?

And if you're already doing paid UGC work, what advice would you give someone creating their first portfolio?

I'll share my video and setup so we can learn from the process together.

We're not waiting to become experts before we start. We're learning by doing.
